Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Discal website (the “Site”) and the Discal Discord bot (the “Bot”), together “Discal” or the “Service”. By visiting the Site, logging in with Discord, or adding the Bot to a Discord server, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Discal is a directory and partnership platform for Discord servers. It lets server owners and staff list their server, discover other communities to partner with, and automates parts of that process (permission checks, role assignment, and bumping a listing in the directory) through the Bot.

Discal is an independent, third-party service and is not created by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Discord Inc. “Discord” is a trademark of Discord Inc. Your use of Discord itself is separately governed by Discord’s own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which continue to apply in full alongside these Terms.

You must be able to form a binding contract to use Discal, and you must meet Discord’s own minimum age requirement to hold a Discord account. If you are using Discal on behalf of a Discord server, you confirm that you have the authority (e.g. “Manage Server” permission) to add bots and manage settings for that server.

Discal accounts are created by logging in with Discord (OAuth2) — there is no separate username or password. You are responsible for keeping your Discord account secure, since anyone with access to it can access your Discal account. You are responsible for all activity carried out under your account, including any server listings, partnership requests, and settings changes.

Adding the Bot to your server is optional but required for most Discal features — the permission check, automatic Partner Role assignment, and the /bump slash command all depend on it. When you add the Bot, you grant it the specific Discord permissions requested during setup (currently: View Channels, Send Messages, Read Message History, Manage Roles, and Create Instant Invite) — Discord’s own consent screen shows you exactly what is being granted before you confirm. You can remove the Bot, or revoke any of these permissions, from your Discord server’s settings at any time; doing so will stop the affected features from working for that server.

You’re responsible for how the Bot’s permissions are used within your own server — for example, keeping the Bot’s role positioned appropriately in your role hierarchy, since Discord itself (not Discal) enforces what a role can and cannot do based on its position.

When you list a server on Discal, you’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit — name, icon, description, category, tags, invite link, and partnership requirements. Listings must not contain content that violates Discord’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, and must not be misleading, impersonate another server or brand, or exist mainly to farm bumps, joins, or partnerships without a genuine, active community behind them.

We may remove, suspend, unverify, or ban a listing — and disable the affected server’s access to Discal — at our discretion, including in response to user reports, Discord Trust & Safety action against your server, or violations of these Terms.

Discal’s partnership workflow automates the mechanical parts of setting up a partnership — checking requirements, verifying permissions, and granting the Partner Role once both sides pass. Discal does not vet the quality, safety, or trustworthiness of any server beyond the automated checks it runs, and does not guarantee that any partnership request will be accepted or that any particular server is a good match for yours. You’re responsible for reviewing a prospective partner yourself before agreeing to a partnership.

Discal Bump lets you move your server up the directory periodically, subject to a cooldown between bumps. Any promotion or “featured” placement offered through Discal is provided on the terms displayed at the time you request it. Attempting to bypass bump cooldowns, using multiple accounts or servers to manipulate rankings, or otherwise gaming the directory’s ordering is prohibited and may result in removal from the directory.

You agree not to:

• Use Discal to violate Discord’s Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, or any applicable law;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to Discal, other users’ accounts, or servers you don’t manage;
• Interfere with, overload, or disrupt Discal’s infrastructure or the Bot;
• Submit false ownership or permission claims for a Discord server;
• Use the Service to spam, harass, or scam other users or server owners; or
• Reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or resell access to the Service without permission.

Discal’s core features are currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid features in the future (for example, extended promotion placements); if we do, those features and their pricing will be clearly disclosed before you’re charged anything, and these Terms will be updated accordingly.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including — to the fullest extent permitted by law — warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully accurate at all times, including permission checks, member counts, or analytics figures shown on the Site.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Discal and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, including actions taken by the Bot within your Discord server as a result of the permissions you granted it.

You may stop using Discal at any time by removing the Bot from your server(s) and no longer logging in. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, including removing a server listing, if we reasonably believe you’ve violated these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above. Continuing to use Discal after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
